Spring Break 2012

Monday-Wednesday, 4/9-11/12
Suncadia Resort

I decided for Spring Break that I wanted to take the kids away for a few days. Who knew how the weather was going to be, so some place that they could play indoors. I decided to try out Suncadia since they had an indoor pool with water slides. It was perfect!

We were there from Monday afternoon thru Wednesday afternoon. Darin met us Monday evening. We got a penthouse studio room (on special) so we could have a full kitchen. It was a good thing because the food onsite is expensive and not kid friendly. That was our only complaint. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience. The kids played in the pool all afternoon on Monday and then from 10am until 5:30pm on Tuesday. They were really tired by the time we got back to the room. Zach zonked out immediately. Darin went into town to bring back pizza while we rested. Then Zach woke up and had some dinner and was raring to go to roast marshmallows. The resort has fire pits going in the evening. We had a fun evening hanging by the fire. On Wednesday Darin left for work and the kids & I packed up the car and checked out. We still got to use the swim facility that day, so we swam from 10:30am until 3pm. They loved it! And I loved being able to read my book while they were happily playing. I started reading The Hunger Games Trilogy on Saturday and was trying to get through them. [I finished Friday morning at 1:30am. Going to see the movie tonight!] I would go sit in the outside hot tub every now and again. I also went down the slides a few times with them. They were pretty fun. We will definitely go back.

I didn't take a lot of pictures, but here are a few highlights.

Easter Weekend

It was such a BEAUTIFUL weekend!

We Seattlites really needed a weekend of SUN!

Saturday Grandma & Papa came over to bring some Easter baskets and then watch the kids hunt eggs at our community Easter egg hunt.

Then on to the Easter egg hunt!

Zach and Papa talking strategy. :-)                                                            The race is on!

The kids had fun and of course, came home with a lot of candy.

We just enjoyed the sun for the rest of the day. :-)

Sunday before we get ready to go to church I decide to make Resurrection Rolls with the kids that I pinned on Pinterest. The kids loved it. It was a fun object lesson on how Jesus was gone when they found the stone rolled away (and yummy).

The kids were part of the Easter choir. This was Zach's first Easter program. He had a short little role at the beginning of the Christmas program, so this was the first time he got to be a part of the whole program.

He was pretty cute! :-)
BTW....it was totally a fluke that Zach ended up matching with Emily next to him. Don't they look so cute! :-)

Our sweet girl!

Here is their performance:

Again, we spent the rest of the day enjoying the sun. :-)

Christ is Risen......Indeed!

Wrestling

Yep, our little boy is in wrestling.

Honestly, I fought it for a little while. It is not my favorite sport. I have several reasons, but I'll keep them to myself. Zach would actually prefer to be boxing, but since there is no 5yr old boxing teams; he's pretty happy with wrestling. :-)

He's wrestling through Reality Sports. It is similar to Upwards where it is a Christian run sports organization. He wrestles at Sumner High School on Monday and Wednesday from 6-8pm.

The program started in February, so Zach is a bit behind the other boys his age. He has such a great attitude though. He doesn't really notice that other boys are better. He just stands back up and tries again. He has a fun time!

This match ended with Zach having a split lip. Poor guy! He needed a little time out, but then he was ready to go again.

We were really proud of him.

He tried hard and was respectful and sat quietly and listened to the devotional.

We are excited to watch him progress.
