A Wonderful Mother's Day!

I love being their Mom!

Darin planned a wonderful day!

The much look forward to sleeping in, was how the day started. That in itself was wonderful! :-) Then I came downstairs to my kiddies and hubby wishing me Happy Mother's Day! And a beautiful bouquet of flowers, card and gift. Love it! To continue the pampering, Darin made breakfast - french toast and bacon. Yum! The best part is that I just sat in my chair and he got all the little whims of the kids. THAT is invaluable. He even cleaned up afterwards!

Next he started preparing our lunch. He made us a picnic lunch (including dessert) and packed up the car. And true to our intuneness (yes, I made this word up), he planned exactly what I would have chosen to do. I was just telling my SIL, Holly, yesterday that Darin had our day planned and I didn't know what it was, BUT with this great weather I would be happy to just go to Mud Mountain Dam with the fam and hang out. And what did we do? We went to Mud Mountain and hung out for the day. :-)

We had a fun day!

I even got a bit of a sun burn. :-)

Elissa's Special Gift

Elissa was very excited to give me the Mother's Day gift that she had made for me at school. She couldn't wait until Sunday, so she gave it to me today.

It is the sweetest and I will cherish it forever!

And then she gave me a beautiful plate with her hand print. Love it!!

Let's play barber shop.........

As I'm downstairs cleaning up and what-have-you, Elissa decided that her, Tyler and Zachary should play barber shop.

I really thought that I had missed the episode of Elissa cutting her hair. I know that pretty much every child cuts their hair at some time during their childhood, but I really never thought that Elissa would. I don't know what gave her the idea to do it now.

I didn't know for hours later (bad mom!). I took Tyler home and dropped Elissa off at another play date and for some reason I came home and went in her room. I saw a strange sight on the ground.....it looks like hair. I pick it up and I pray that it is doll hair, but it feels real.

Then Elissa got home and she turned around and this is what I saw.....

I was nearly in tears. We would have to cut so much of her hair off. Why does hair bring so much emotion??

It took Elissa a long while to tell the truth. I had to call and get Tyler's side of the story to piece everything together. Elissa came up with the idea to play barber shop and then Tyler was the barber. Elissa sat in the rocking chair while Tyler cut a junk out of the back of her hair. Then she had Tyler and Zach sit in the rocking chair together and she cut their hair. I couldn't find where Zach got a hair cut, but you could see it on Tyler. Right at the top of his head were short little strands.

I was thinking that we needed to go have it cut right a way, but Darin calmed me down. He said, "Do you really want someone at Great Cuts trying to fix her hair?" That would be a big NO. :-) So I left a message for my hair dresser. I couldn't get her in until Tuesday, so she wore a pony tail for the next few days.

I'm SO glad I waited because Cindy did such a great job trying to save what length she could and making it a cute easy hair cut.

It has been such a nice change to be able to easily brush her hair. It was such an ordeal every day to get all the rats out after her sleeping. Both of  us dreaded it.

She looks too grown up though......

Spring Music and Movement Program

The first portion was movement in the gym. This was my favorite! The kids had lots of fun running, jumping and dancing to music! :-)

Then the kids moved over to the lunch room for their music performance. I was amazed that they knew the words really well. They sang really cute songs.

I just missed Zach doing the rodeo too, but he had a big finish. :-)

The Baby Tree

That is what we call this dogwood tree that we planted 4 years ago - Friday, 4-28-06.

I love dogwood trees. I think they are so beautiful and I love the color. A perfect choice to remember our little baby we lost at 7 weeks pregnant.

It was beautiful when we planted it.

And so much more now.

A Fishin' Trip

During Spring break Darin took Thursday and Friday off to spend with us. On Thursday he took the kids fishing. They were very excited to go. They would have rather gone in the boat, but Darin took them to the fishing pond.

On Friday we took the kids to the movies. This was Zach's first time sitting through a movie. We saw "How to Train your Dragon". We all really liked it. Zach did pretty good. We went to the afternoon showing, so that it wouldn't be so bad when he got up and walked around a bit. :-)

The kids loved having Dad home for so many days!
