Zach gets up anytime between 4-5:45am - on average 5:30am. Way too early! Daddy and I take turns on who is going to get up and rock with him as he has his morning cup of milk and cartoons. Though if Daddy gets up, Zach doesn't let me sleep long. He will insist on coming to wake me about about 20 minutes later. This just started about a week ago...yeah me! :0) Then he usually takes a shower with Daddy. He LOVES to take a shower, so if he hears it going he runs to get in. Later when I take my shower he runs to get in again. He wants to be in the direct spray, so I’m pushed to the side. If both him and Lissy are in the shower, then I’m really stuck in the corner. If I’m in the water too long Zach turns to me and points out – seriously. They both want bowls full of water so they hold them up for me to fill. I can’t quite get them to understand that they can do the same thing that I do. They will play forever in the shower. I’ll turn the water off and get out and dry off and they’ll stay in there and play until I’m ready to dry them off. Were we meant to give up everything?? I really need to take my shower back soon! :0) They may take a bath later too if they have went outside and gotten dirty or really cold. Zach is a really clean guy. LOL
Elissa usually wakes up around 6:30am. She is very fearful of missing saying goodbye to Daddy. If she hears the garage door closing, she runs out of her room screaming and crying "Daddy! Daddy! Wait!" When I calm her down, then we call Daddy on the phone to tell him goodbye. Thankfully this doesn't happen very often.
Evening Routine
Since Zach gets up at the crack of dawn he wants to go to bed by 8pm. I have taken away his morning nap in order to encourage him to sleep in, but it has not helped so far. It has been a little over a week and I was hoping for better success by now. His afternoon nap is 1-2hrs. Usually an hour and a half. He is definitely not much of a sleeper. BUT when he is ready for bed, he is ready. He has a cup of milk as we are watching a cartoon and when he is done drinking he gives me the cup and turns around and cuddles with me and winds his fingers in my hair (very aggressively). When he was younger he used to maul me when he was ready to go to sleep. He is a very passionate guy! :0) Then we go to his room and I tell him to go get a book for us to read and he usually comes back with "The Hungry Catepillar" or "Daniel in the Lions Den". He doesn't let me read the full page. He flips through the pages fast and sometimes he goes through over and over again. When he is done he will close the book and put the book back in the drawer and point to his crib. He has no problem getting across what he wants. I give him a kiss and lay him in bed and then he points to his blanket so that I'll put it over him. He will not let me leave the room with out putting on his blanket. In the summer he didn't want it, so this fall he must have been getting cold. And now he is down until early morning.
Daddy takes Elissa to bed. They usually watch one more cartoon and then go brush teeth, go potty and pick a book. Elissa's favorite books are the big Disney Storybooks that have about 10 different Disney stories in them. The index page has little pictures of each of the stories, so she decides by the pictures on which story she wants to read. A couple of the older books don't have the little pictures, so she stopped picking them to read. Then Daddy tucks her in and maybe she is down for the night. Usually she gets up once or twice for some reason...water, potty again, to ask what we are doing, etc.
The Afternoon
Zach woke up from his nap way to early. He was a bit of a mess. For some reason he really wanted to go outside. He could have either wanted to ride is bike, play with the remote control cars or wanted some licorice that Daddy keeps on his work bench.
Mommy I can't believe you are saying "No" to me. I am going to let you know exactly how I feel!
A little game of hide-n-seek with Mommy.
I decided to take pictures this time so Mommy had some fun too. :0)
Elissa loves to count and find the best.
Zach watched Elissa hide in the coat closet and then that became his hiding place each time. We would yell "where is Zach hiding" and he would open the door and yell "here" with his big smile. He was so proud of himself.
Elissa upset that I hid in the same place. This is a very frequent look that we get.
Found you Mom! You're hiding under the breakfast table.
Zach is getting so good at feeding himself with utensils.
Doesn't he have pretty hair!

My kids ALWAYS hide in the coat closet!!! And then Landon (as we're pretending to look for him) will make little peeping sounds as clues to "help" us find him. It's pretty cute.
As exhausting as your days seem, you will miss them when they pass. Great that you are writing down all the memories to remember. One hint for the shower - I keep a can of cheap shaving cream in ours and when the girls come in with me I cover the walls with "cream" and they love playing in it.
