Birthday Weekend

Happy 7th Birthday  Elissa!

Elissa had a fun weekend celebrating her birthday, which is today.

I have to confess that I didn't have her birthday party planned at least 6 months in advance, as usual. Not sure what was going on with me this year, but I just couldn't make a decision on what to do. I finally decided that she could ask a couple of friends to come with her for a fun afternoon. She decided to just invite her good friend Olivia.

So after school on FRIDAY (they get out at 1:15p) I picked up Elissa & Olivia and we headed to Starbucks for a nice drink. :-) Then off to the Supermall to bounce around for an hour.

After they got their bouncing out of them, we went to the movies and saw Kung Fu Panda 2. It was cute. And then we headed to Red Robin for dinner and being sung too!

And finally headed home and looking through their goody bags.
She is growing up too fast!

On SATURDAY, we decided to chance the weather and take the kids to the Point Defiance Zoo.
It ended up being a beautiful day!
Zach's favorite was the shark feeding. He was in awe as they were swimming by him.

Elissa loved feeding the Budgies and did good when several of them wanted to land on her stick or arm. Zach was a little freaked out by that. In the car he said that he didn't really like birds. :-)

The porcupines were really cool.

But the 1 year old tiger cubs stole the show!

Elissa had a question and it took the trainer quite awhile to get to her. She asked, "How do you tell the difference between the two cubs?" Such a good question!

We left the zoo and had lunch at The Spar in Ruston. Then we walked down to Old Town Bicycle and got Elissa a new bike for her birthday. And the rest of the family got new bikes too. I guess we are going to be riding bikes a lot this Summer. :-)

And finally today, SUNDAY, we had a family birthday party for Elissa.

The weather was so nice on Saturday and the meteorologists had kept on saying that Sunday was going to be the best day of the weekend, so we decided to move Elissa's party to Mud Mountain Dam Park instead of our house. We knew the kids would have much more fun there. Well we woke up this morning to a very overcast sky, but we were sure it was going to burn off by noon.

Darin headed up early to the park to get a good covered eating area and by the time I got there at 11:30am, the sky was still overcast. :-( We thought of packing up and calling everyone to come to our house, but we knew it was going to burn off soon. It was cold. Patty called to see if we needed anything and we asked her to stop at Starbucks and pick up some boxes of coffee. We knew everyone would need to be warmed up, before the sun broke through. Yeah....wellll.....the sun never came out. I still can't believe it. It was cold, cold, cold. But the kids had a great time.

This was the first birthday where she could read her own cards.

She thought this was really funny. LOL!

Do the Grandparents look cold??

I was so optomistic that the sun was going to come out, I wore flip flops.
Luckily Mom had some socks I could wear.
It was worth fashion fopa. LOL!

They are such big 7 years old. When did that happen?!
This is when Cole was 5 months old and Elissa was 3 weeks old.

Happy Birthday Lissy Girl!
We love you very much!!
