First Pumpkin Carving!

This is seriously the first year that we have carved pumpkins with the kids.

I know, kinda crazy. It must be because I'm not that into Halloween. But they will definitely be asking to do it again next year. :-)

They did such a great job!

Both of them made up their own drawing for how they wanted their pumpkin to look like. Elissa wanted a cat and Zach wanted a scary face. I had gotten them a book of different patterns to follow, but they wanted to make their own. Darin and I helped to refine them. They did most of the work. Though Zach would NOT clean out his pumpkin. He put his hand inside once and then refused to get the yucky, slimy stuff on him again. LOL!

Newman had to be right in there with us. He likes eating pumpkins. :-)

With a little help from Mama. (He didn't want to sit in any of the pumpkin gunk, so he sat on my knee)

She came up with such a cute kitty!

She took her time in carving so that she wouldn't mess up.

Then Daddy helped her perfect it. :-)

They did awesome!

A Perfect Gift

Hawaii is our favorite place.

We Honeymooned on Kona and then went back for our First Anniversary (and came back pregnant). 

And I would live in flip flops if we lived in a climate that I could do that. :-)

Darin took the bus from Seattle to Bellevue Square and went to Na Hoku, a Hawaiian jewelry store. I love really thoughtful gifts and I'm not sure if he could have thought of something better.

 

 Elissa saw it and said that she can't wait to have a husband that will buy her gifts like that. :-)

We are going to celebrate next weekend with a trip to Portland and stay in the Pearl District.

Pumpkins!

Sunday, October 7th

It was the warmest Pumpkin Patch day I think I we have ever had!

Seriously, shorts weather. I ended up being over dressed. It was beautiful!

The kids had another great time at Maris Farms.

Elissa rode the bull. Zach didn't want to.

Bummer! My videos will not upload here or youtube. I've got to figure it out.

Elissa was so unimpressed with the cow ride. Definitely too old. :-) 

But not too old for the bouncy pillow!

Now we are going to go get lost in the maze. It took us a long time to get through it and I was very ready to be out. I was getting a little panicky and ready to just plow through the corn stalks. Seriously. Not my thing. :-)

Elissa was getting frustrated with us too. She wanted to be the leader at all times and wanted to stop and read every sign. We all felt like this.

  

Finally out of the maze and ready to pick our pumpkins!!

Elissa didn't want any help picking out a pumpkin. Oh, my very independent girl. Zach let me guide him.

The last thing they got to do was the Speleo Kave. There are 5 stories in this box that you have to climb up and around and back down. The adults that went said that it gets very claustrophobic and you just want out. No thank you. The kids loved it and did it a couple of times.

It was a very long day of church, Christmas play practice and then the pumpkin patch. We were all exhausted, but so glad that we went on this gorgeous day.
