I got home from making sure Elissa got off the bus and to her class room and for some reason I said to myself, "Hey, why don't I potty train Zach today? It is just the two of us. It will be great!"
Hmmmm, that thought quickly went away.

He has been going pee pee on the potty for quite some time now, but just randomly. I really wasn't planning on starting until he was more like 3yrs old (he's 2 1/2), but Mom has been "bugging" me about it (you know how Grandmas can be :-] ).
I was totally unprepared.
I did the whole Dr. Phil potty training method with Elissa and had birthday hats and blowers and balloons and a peeing baby and LOTS of candy. I had NOTHING for poor Zach. Well, I had bought him really cool panties - OOPS, I mean underwear.

At first it was great. I said "let's go potty" and he went potty. But then I would say, "let's go potty" and he was say that he didn't need to and so I would set the timer for another 10mintues and he would then proceed to go pee pee on the floor just before the timer went off - LOVE THAT!
By the time that Darin walked in the door I was putting a pull up back on Zach and I was done for the night. I cleaned up 4-5 accidents.
Thursday morning I was already up when Zach got up at 6:30am and I had to make a decision if I was going to continue this craziness. I decided to just go for it! Throw caution to the wind. :-) I took him potty and put his big boy pants back on. Then later I was cleaning up poo poo and thinking, "why did I do this?" And not long after, Elissa is yelling that Zach has to go pee pee. I run upstairs to get him to the potty and he has already gone a bit, but he had stopped himself and finished on the potty. Wow, a bit of success! Oh, the little things in life.
It was time to go to the store and get some candy!
The rest of the day was a breeze. No accidents! Candy was a great motivator for him and for sister. She would encourage him to go potty all the time so she could get some sweet treats too! Several successful potty encounters, but none initiated by him yet.
No telling what will happen tomorrow....

"No potty. No potty. No potty."
