Red Barn Tree Farm

Saturday, 11-29-08
We went on our annual trip to the Red Barn Tree Farm in the Puyallup valley. We got there early to beat the rush. We love this tree farm because they have really nice trees either to cut down yourself or pre-cut ones brought in from other farms. They also have really nice wreaths. The best part of all is the train that takes you out to the different areas of the farm and then brings you and your tree back.

Here we are waiting for the train to come.

Look, a train!

It's coming!

Zach is a little hesitant at first. I think he is a bit surprised that the train is moving.

Now he is settling in and giving Dad a high five.

So fun riding along....

Ahhh, so cute!

A quick family photo before we head off to find our Christmas tree.

Zach didn't want to leave the train.

There he is watching it roll away.

The kids having fun running through the trees.

Zach is getting tired. He is winding his fingers through my hair. One of his "signs" that he is ready to take a nap.

The kids looking for bugs and things.

We found our tree (to the left of me). We usually walk around the farm and then head back in and get a pre-cut tree. The pre-cut trees are usually a little more manicured. We always get a noble because we like the layers so that the ornaments can dangle.

This year we decided we wanted to cut down a tree for the experience with the kids.

They had fun watching Dad cut it down.

We are ready to put the tree on the train and head back in.

The kids wanted to ride in the caboose on the way back.

They loved riding back there.

Mmmmm, hot chocolate...

The kids had so much fun that they fell asleep as soon as we started moving. It could also be partly due to them being up since 5am or so....

We had such a great time. This year was particularly fun because Elissa was so into it and Zach was having fun even though he doesn't really understand what it is about. Elissa definately gets the whole "Christmas thing" this year and was very excited to get a tree and get home and put the ornaments on. She made sure that she was going to be able to help put the ornaments on. The start of the Christmas season has been so much fun!
