It was a nice slow day today.
I would like to say we took our time getting up, but Zach was up just before 6am. :-( I got up with him this morning, so he and Elissa watched cartoons while I finished my new Nicholas Sparks book (of course, so good).
Zach was playing with my camera.
Darin and I went for runs and then we finally got around to getting ready for the beach. Nana decided to stay home again and have another chill day, so we rounded up the kids and got to Hapuna beach around 10:30am.
Our Seattle "friends" were there too, so Elissa hung out with their daughter and we talked with the parents on and off.
The waves were rough today! There were warning signs out that it was hazardous conditions. There was even a woman put on a stretcher and sent to the hospital right next to us. She got bowled over by the surf and hurt her lower back. The lifeguard saw her go down and he thought she might have a spinal injury. It reminds us that the surf is fun, but very dangerous.
Zach and Darin built a "room" in the sand and then later Elissa and Sasha used it for a restaurant.
We left the beach around 3:30pm. It was a full day!
That evening the kids and I stayed home and Darin took his Mom out for dinner at the Fairmont Orchid restaurant, "The Beach House".
